Aims and Objectives

Schedule 1: AIMS AND
OBJECTIVES

 

The aims of Zero Waste Australia Incorporated, as set out in
our rules are to protect the environment by:

 

  1. identifying and supporting opportunities to eliminate waste streams as a means to create positive sustainable environmental outcomes.
  2. providing information and advice on waste issues by using sustainable core values
  3. supporting research and development to create solutions for the elimination of waste
  4. providing domestic and global networks working toward the zero waste vision
  5. raising awareness of zero waste core values and challenging current thinking

 

The objectives of Zero Waste Australia Incorporated are to:

 

  1. use the organisations resources to awaken the public to Zero Waste core values
  2. endorse sponsoring industries as being aligned with Zero Waste core values
  3. ensure its own integrity and reputation as a group are maintained on the understanding that the value of Zero Waste Australia Incorporated endorsement is aligned with the partners own integrity to that endorsement
  4. support the community and industry to achieve a zero waste goal

 

Schedule 2: Zero Waste Australia
Core Values

 

Zero Waste Australia Incorporated (ZWA) is a member of the
Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA) working toward a zero waste world.

 

ZWA is a not-for-profit organisation formed to support all
tiers of industry to achieve environmentally and economically sustainable
systems.

 

ZWA membership provides the opportunity for industry to open
the door to new economic benefits.

 

ZWA will endorse the use of our Zero Waste Project Logo for
any industry project which attempts to pursue the ZWA core values.

 

The ZWIA global network is comprised of educational
institutions, laboratories, government groups, consultants, businesses,
municipalities, community groups and government of all levels.

 

ZWIA uses the following tools to achieve its objectives:

Industrial ecology, life-cycle assessment, environmental design, systems
mapping, sound science, full-cost accounting, product stewardship, waste
exchange and environmental management systems.

 

ZWA endorses the core principals of
sustainability
including:

  • The elimination of all
    waste
  • Zero toxic emissions to the
    atmosphere and waterways
  • Closed loops on all
    resources
  • Efficient, environmentally
    friendly transportation
  • Educating the community on
    the long-term effects of the power of their purchasing choices
  • The rebuilding of commerce
    to eliminate environmentally harmful subsidies andthe inclusion of real
    environmental and economic costs
