Improved Soil Management and Irrigation

20 May 2008 - 2:00pm
20 May 2008 - 6:00pm

Zero Waste Australia and Irrigation Australia Limited invite you to participate in this important workshop which will engage you in a conversation on the relationships between soil quality, soil carbon and water efficiency.

The rising cost of agricultural inputs combined with market pressures will mean that all sectors in the marketplace will have to ‘join the dots' and recognise the benefits of environmental relationships. The potential of carbon trade will be only one of the dominant forces in this new marketplace.

This workshop will cover:

· The use of compost amendments to improve soils and reduce fertiliser use

· Improving soil quality and crop production with foliar fertlisers

· Agri-char as a carbon store and soil improver

· Reducing production costs on a soy crop with compost

· Irrigator participation in the use of compost products

The workshop is on the first day of the three day Irrigation Australia conference and exhibition which starts Tuesday 20th of May. The workshop itself starts at 2.00 PM on Tuesday.
